Berkeley Heights Police Make Multiple Heroin Arrests: Blotter

New Jersey has been hit with a heroin epidemic, and Berkeley Heights is no exception, as Patch has previously reported. Unfortunately, it seems as if it's not slowing down: Berkeley Heights Police made two separate heroin arrests last week, both stemming out of routine traffic stops, according to the township's police blotter.

On Sept. 8 at 1:13 PM, Ptl. Brian Nigro pulled over Trevor Littieri, 22, from Millington for not wearing a seatbelt. During the stop. Ptl. Nigro found wax folds containing what appeared to be heroin, "a small amount" of marijuana, and needles.

Littieri was charged with possession of heroin, marijuana under 50 grams, drug paraphernalia, and hypodermic syringes. He was released, pending a mandatory appearance in Union County Superior Court.

The next day, Sept. 9 at 8:15 PM, Ptl. Frank Mea pulled over Peter Martin 3rd, 28, from Berkeley Heights, for equipment violations. Ptl. Mea found a crack pipe in the car, wax folds that contained heroin, and other paraphernalia.

Martin was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and issued motor vehicle summonses. He was released, pending a mandatory appearance in Berkeley Heights Municipal Court.
