This exciting double bill presented by THE RIDGEWOOD GILBERT & SULLIVAN OPERA COMPANY opens with the world premiere of “Savoyard Idol”, an original “talent competition” with music by Arthur Sullivan and book by David Claypoole of Summit and Eileen Mager of Englewood. Aspiring singers compete in an American Idol style competition and YOU, the audience, decides who will play the leading roles in the company’s production of “Trial By Jury” which follows after intermission. “Trial By Jury” is a hilarious, one act piece, about a bride who sues for “breach of promise of marriage”. This will be Gilbert & Sullivan at their topsy-turvy best!
David Claypoole, directs the “Idol” cast while Carol Ciancia, of Oakland, tries to keep order in the court with “Trial By Jury”. Vince Balzano, of Summit, is the Host of “Idol”. Our music directors are Francesca Kubian Geidel of Paterson and James Biddlecome of Teaneck.
