The victim in a fatal crash on the New Jersey Turnpike on Wednesday has been identified since a truck overturned and collapsed on a concrete median, police said.

Cristian Vergara, 22, of Englewood was identified as the victim, police said.

Lanes have reopened after all lanes were closed on the northbound Turnpike because of the overturned vehicle in Elizabeth. All traffic was being diverted off Interchange 13, police said.

Police were called to the northbound lanes of the NJ Turnpike near exit 13A around 1:40 a.m., police said, and discovered an overturned milk truck struck a concrete barrier, flipped over and burst into flames.

The trailer of the truck ended up on one side of the barrier while the cabin fell on the other side, police said.

As a result of the crash, the driver was killed and milk spilled onto the roadway, police said.

The incident is under investigation.
