NEW PROVIDENCE/BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — A flash flood watch is in effect for New Providence, Berkeley Heights and all of Union County until 6 p.m. on Monday.

The National Weather Service issued the watch as a line of strong thunderstorms moves through the area. Rainfall totals of one to three inches are forecast, higher amounts possible in local areas.

Areas of greatest risk to flooding are poor-drainage and urban locations where rapid run off may cause localized flash flooding. Small streams may also experience flooding in areas receiving the heaviest rainfall.
