Lady Pioneers draw No. 2 seed in UCIAC Varsity Basketball Tournament

The New Providence girls’ varsity basketball team will be the No. 2 seed in the Union County Interscholastic Athletic Conference Tournament, while the boys’ varsity basketball team is No. 11, according to UCIAC.org.

In each tournament, the top four seeds receive a bye to the quarterfinals, which means the Lady Pioneers will not have to play a first or second-round game. 

The boys' varsity team already played Roselle in the first round at Rahway High School on Feb. 13, winning 50-46. The Pioneers will play Rahway at Roselle Catholic tonight at 7:30 p.m.

The girls’ first round was played on Feb. 12 while the boys’ first round took place on Feb. 12-14

The boys’ quarterfinals will be played on Feb. 19, while the girls’ quarterfinals will take place on Feb. 20.  The semifinals will be on Feb. 23 for the boys and Feb. 24 for the girls, with the championship round at Kean University on Feb. 26 for the boys and Feb. 27 for the girls.
