38-Year-Old Oakland Woman Dies After Being Run Over By SUV: Cops
Breaking: The woman was hit on Thackerary Road at about 9:44 a.m., police said.

OAKLAND, NJ — A 38-year-old borough woman died after she was hit by an SUV while walking on Thackeray Road Wednesday morning, police said.
The woman was walking with an acquaintance on the sidewalk in front of 18 Thackeray Road when they were hit by a vehicle backing out of a driveway, said Lt. Christian Eldridge.
The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee knocked them both to the ground. Then the driver pulled the SUV forward back into the driveway, then it rolled backwards and hit the victim again, pinning her beneath it, Eldridge said.

Police got a call about the crash at 9:44 a.m. Officers, along with Valley Hospital paramedics and members of the Oakland First Aid Squad and Volunteer Fire Department arrived on scene. They tried to save the woman's life, but she succumbed to her injuries, Eldridge said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders, the lieutenant said.

The identities of those involved, including the victim's, were not released Wednesday pending notification to the woman's next of kin, Eldridge said.
Several Oakland Police officers and members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Fatal Accident Investigation Unit and the Bergen County Sheriff's Department investigated the crash.
