Art Show Coming to Farmers Market
Next weekend's farmers market will feature local artists.

In addition to picking up fresh produce at the Oakland Farmers Market, you'll soon be able to scope out local artists and, if you're inclined, bring a piece home with you.
The market tried out "Art in the Park" during its first year last year, bringing area artists for an exhibition and sale during the operating hours of the market. Based on the success, the organizers opted to do it again this year, and will hold the event next weekend.
The market will be open behind the library for its regular hours this weekend, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, and host two local artists including Pamela Leggate, a watercolor artist who teaches at the Oakland Senior Center.

But next week, many more artists, in a range of styles and mediums, will converge upon the park to display their art.
"There is sure to be something for everyone, from serious art collectors to people who are first time buyers of original artwork," said Tracy DiTolla, one of the organizers of the market.

The event will take place Saturday, June 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
