Bergen Pooches Playing In Animal Planet's 1st Dog Bowl Saturday

Team Paws and Team Tails will face off in the network's first ever event Saturday.

OAKLAND, NJ — Some Bergen County dogs will face off on the gridiron on national television next month.

Five dogs from the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge (RBAR) will appear on Animal Planet's first ever Dog Bowl Saturday at 8 p.m.

The event is for older dogs living in rescues and shelters who are frequently passed over for puppies. The network wants the event to prove that middle- and senior-aged dogs are worth savings.

The Dog Bowl is a companion event to the network's annual Puppy Bowl. The 50 dogs will be split into two teams: Team Paws and Team Tails. Animal advocate Jill Rappaport will host the one-hour special.
