The Bergen County Zoo Education Department is looking for friendly, dedicated adults (age 18 and older) to volunteer as a part of its Animal Encounters program. Volunteers in this program support the Bergen County Zoo’s mission by bringing a small zoo animal on a monthly visit to a local nursing home/long-term care facility. Visits occur on weekday mornings or afternoons. Give back to the community and bring smiles to many faces by becoming an Animal Encounters volunteer. No experience is necessary—full training will be provided. To learn more about this program, join us at the information session in the Bergen County Zoo’s Education/Discovery Center (the first building on the right once you are inside the zoo). Training will take place Friday mornings throughout February and March. Volunteers must be able to attend all training sessions and commit to a monthly visit of approximately 3 hours. Please email Liz Carletta for more information.
