NJ Fights In The Civil War – Remembering Soldiers Buried In Mahwah

"During the war, New Jersey regiments were engaged in every major battle and many of the soldiers were wounded or made the ultimate sacrifice.  The exhibit is focused on the experiences of  New Jersey soldiers during the struggle:  how they lived and trained, where and how they fought.  Also illustrated is the important part that women and children played in this war between the North and the South.

Of special interest is the identification and location of twenty-eight Civil War soldiers buried in three of Mahwah’s cemeteries, Ramapo Reformed Church Cemetery, Mahwah Cemetery, and Redeemer Cemetery.  There is information about each one, the units he was enlisted in, and the actions and events in which he was engaged." Please call or visit the Mahwah Museum's website for more information.
