Former Rutgers Athletic Director Tim Pernetti has gotten the call from the majors.
Major League Soccer, that is.
Pernetti, an Oakland resident, is expected to be officially tapped next week to be the chief business officer of the New York City Football Club, according to a report on Bloomberg.

Major League Soccer Commissioner Dan Garber in June announced that the New York City Football Club would become the newest franchise in the MLS in 2015.
The club will be owned by 2012 Barclay’s Premier League champions Manchester City and the 27 time World Series champion New York Yankees, Patch reported earlier this year.

Pernetti resigned as Rutgers athletic director in April after allegations against basketball coach Tim Rice embroiled the university in controversy.
In July, the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation chose Pernetti for its board of directors.
