Man Charged With Being Under The Influence Of Heroin At Oakland Store: Police

A couple reported that their identities were stolen, police said.

Editor’s note: Oakland police provided the following information regarding incidents that occurred in the borough recently.

Officer Daniel Kern was at the Oakalnd Mini Mart Aug. 7 conducting a welfare check when he determined that a 34-year-old male was under the influence of heroin, police said. The man, whose name was not released, was charged with driving under the influence. Police found heroin and multiple syringes while investigating the incident. The man was taken into custody and lodged in the Bergen County Jail.

Officer Thomas Pianettini investigated a walk-in complaint regarding an Oakland couple being the victims of identity theft. The residents stated that they discovered their identity was compromised when they learned that someone already attempted to file a tax return using their information without their knowledge or consent. A police report was filed.
