Man Found Dead In Bergen County's Largest Park Saturday: Sheriff's Office

56-year-old man with had a pre-existing medical condition was found in Ramapo Valley Reservation, authorities said.

A 56-year-old Mahwah resident died while hiking Saturday afternoon at Ramapo Valley County Reservation, authorities said.

A hiker found the man, who had a pre-existing medical condition, said Anthony Cureton, spokesman for the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office received an emergency call at 1 p.m. and responded to the park and responders provided medical treatment, Cureton said.

Sheriff’s personnel found the man unresponsive and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Cureton said.

The man’s name was not released pending a review by the Bergen County Medical Examiner, Cureton said.
