Oakland Diner Closes After Fire

The fire started in the boiler room and quickly spread to the women's room. No one was injured, according to a report.

OAKLAND, N.J. — The Oakland Diner will be closed due to a "small fire" that occurred there Wednesday afternoon.

The fire reportedly started in the boiler room and quickly spread to the women's bathroom; there were customers in the diner when the fire broke out but no was hurt, The Daily Voice reported.

A post on the diner's Facebook page stated the diner would reopen "as soon as possible."

Owner Harry Mihas said he is concerned about his employees. Many of of them are single mothers, he said, and depend on their wages to support their families, according to The Daily Voice.
