Oakland To Mark 25 Years Since 9/11 At Remembrance Ceremony

OAKLAND, NJ — Oakland residents will gather Friday to mark 25 years since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with a community remembrance ceremony.

The observance begins at 6 p.m. at Veterans Park, according to an announcement from the borough. The ceremony will offer neighbors a place to pause together and remember the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, including Oakland resident Thomas McGinnis.

After the ceremony, attendees are invited to Ponds Church for refreshments. The borough said “all are welcome” to attend.

The anniversary carries added significance this year as communities across the country reflect on a quarter-century since the attacks.
