Oakland Pit Bull Wins National Competition
Buffie helped the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge win $5,000 for coming in 1st place in the annual Tournament of Tails.

OAKLAND, NJ — A local pit bull helped a local animal rescue group win $5,000 recently.
Buffie, a senior pit bull, is being cared for by the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge (RBAR), an Oakland-based animal rescue. She was one of 32 competitors in the Tournament of Tails, a bracket-style online contest hosted by Petplan pet insurance. She received the most number of votes in the tournament.
"Buffie is a survivor and a winner who overcame years of abuse and neglect. But she is also forgiving and loves unconditionally," said Megan Brinster, the rescue's executive director. "For Buffie to be living the life of a rescued dog today, one who has won the hearts of so many people through her participation in Tournament of Tails, is incredible."
