Oakland Police Arrest Man Who Owes $50K In Child Support Payments
The man was charged after a shoplifting incident earlier this month, police said.

OAKLAND, N.J. — Police arrested a man May 15 who had $50,000 in outstanding child support payments out of Passaic County, authorities said.
While on patrol, police officers received a report of a shoplifting at ShopRite; two police officers investigated and found the alleged thieves, who were identified by store management, said Officer Christian Eldridge.
One of the men, Joseph Robinson, 44, from Paterson, was charged in connection with the theft.

The other man, 39-year-old Leonard McNeill, also from Paterson, was also charged with theft.
McNeill provided a false identity and, after further investigation, authorities determined he was wanted out of Passaic County for an open burglary offense and child support payments in excess of $50,000, Eldridge said.

McNeill and Robinson were remanded to the Bergen County Jail, police said.
