Body Found In Reservoir Could Be Missing Oakland Woman

Divers in the Monksville Reservoir discovered human remains inside a sunken car Wednesday.

Police divers discovered a woman's body inside a car at the bottom of a Passaic County reservoir Wednesday, according to a report by Northjersey.com.

West Milford Police divers training in the Monksville Reservoir found a 2004 Toyota Camry under 18 feet of water, inside which the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office confirmed were a woman's remains.

Authorities have not yet identified the body, but according to the report the car matches the make and model driven by an Oakland woman last seen in the borough over five years ago.

Cathy Ann DeBono, 49, was last seen March 23, 2008, according to a state police missing persons database. According to the Record, police said upon her disappearance that her purse and cellphone had been left behind at the borough home where she lived with her husband and daughter.

An autopsy on the body is still pending, but the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office said that there is no immediate indication of foul play. The New Jersey State Park Police, which has jurisdiction over the reservoir, will be handling the investigation.
