UPDATE: Name Of Bergen County Library Gunshot Victim Released

Lyndhurt resident Kevin K. Allen, 36, had a weapon on him when he was shot in the library, authorities said.

Kevin K. Allen, 36, is the man whom police killed in the shooting incident at the Lyndhurst Library earlier today, authorities said.

Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli said on Twitter that Allen’s last known address was in Lyndhurst at 54 Stuyvesant Ave. Allen also went by the name Kevin Hall, Molinelli said.

Three police officers were involved in the shooting and officials would not say if Allen had a weapon on him, why police were called to the scene, or if they had prior run-ins with Allen, according to NJ.com.

Several people at the scene said Allen frequented the library often and watched videos or listened to music on the computers, NJ.com said.

Police officers involved in the shooting were transported to the hospital for trauma, but were not physically injured, NorthJersey.com reported.

Authorities were interviewing several witness to the shooting, including a child, Lyndhurst Police Chief told NJ.com.

“Our office has only been on the Lyndhurst police shooting scene for an hour so we have no details at this time. 3 officers/suspect dead,” Molinelli posted on Twitter at 3:15 p.m.

Police were at the library checking on a “suspicious person” around 2:45 p.m., Cliffviewpilot.com reported.

Twitter user Jose Checo, said police officers ”ran into the library with their guns drawn.“
