Lottery officials encouraged all players to check their old tickets, as significant prizes can sometimes go unnoticed. In May 2025, a player in Mercer County discovered a discarded Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million. That ticket had been purchased four months prior to its discovery.
Players can verify their tickets and learn how to claim prizes by visiting the New Jersey Lottery website or the New Jersey Lottery app.
