$1.8 Million Road Project To Begin In Ocean City
West Avenue will be paved and new storm drainage pipes will be installed to reduce flooding in the area.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — At the most recent meeting, City Council awarded a contract for a $1.8 million road project to pave and replace antiquated siphon systems.
Work on West Avenue from 18th Street to 26th Street will begin this fall, according to Mayor Jay A. Gillian.
"In addition to paving, the job will include adding new storm drainage pipes and inlets to eliminate an antiquated siphon system," Gillian explained in his weekly Mayor's Update.

The road grades will be adjusted to establish positive pitch to inlets and minimize tidal flooding, according to the agenda packet.
This project will also add ADA-compliant curb ramps, he said.

Part of the project is funded by the Department of Transportation.
