1 Dead In Ocean City House Fire: Officials

Police found the man's body outside the residence on the second-floor landing of an outside stairway.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — One person was found dead outside of a home that caught fire in Ocean City on Wednesday, officials said.

Firefighters and police responded to the residence on the 1900 block of Asbury Avenue at about 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, according to a city news release.

Black smoke was seen coming from outside the second floor of the home, officials said. The fire was extinguished quickly.

Police found the man on the second-floor landing of an outside staircase, officials said. They did not say how he died. Investigators are working to identify the man and notify next of kin.

No one else was in the building at the time and no first responders were injured, officials said. The building's exterior was minimally damaged by the fire.
