1 Killed In Fiery Car Crash In Cape May County: Police

The driver lost control of the car while driving in Dennis Township Monday night. The car hit a series of trees and became fully engulfed.

A 52-year-old man was killed when his car went off the road, struck a series of trees and caught fire in Cape May County Monday night, according to New Jersey State Police.

The man, who has not yet been positively identified by the Medical Examiner’s Office, was driving a Ford F-150 west on Route 550 when he lost control of his car at about 11:20 p.m., police said.

He went off the road near milepost 6.1 in Dennis Township. The car left the road, struck a series of trees and became fully engulfed, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other cars were involved in the accident, and he was the only occupant of his car at the time of the crash, police said. The cause of the accident remained under investigation Tuesday afternoon.
