$11 Million Funding Package Approved By Ocean City Council

The bond ordinance will fund various improvements across the island, including the construction of a new police substation.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — A $10.9 million bond ordinance is set to fund various improvements in Ocean City after being approved by City Council at a recent meeting.

Improvements planned include upgrades to the aquatic center, dredging and more.

The most expensive project is the construction of a new public safety annex building on Eighth Street and Boardwalk, which is currently under design, City Chief Financial Officer Frank Donato previously said. This project's estimated cost is $6.5 million.

One project is the airport/golf course building, which already has $3 million donated towards it, and the city plans to apply for another grant to help fund it.

$2.5 million will go towards a pool renovation at the Aquatic & Fitness Center and $1 million for continued lagoon and back bay dredging.

Lastly, $200,000 will go towards communications and IT equipment. This includes camera systems and new radios for the beach patrol and mobile data computers similar to what police cars use for the fire department.
