$2.6 Million Water Main Project Begins In Ocean City

New Jersey American Water will replace about 10,000 feet of aging water main.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — New Jersey American Water will replace 10,280 feet of aging water main this winter in Ocean City. The $2.6 million project will increase water flow for households and fire protection.

New Jersey American Water expects all projects to conclude by the end of May. Final street restorations for St. Davids Place, Merion Place, 48th Street, Asbury Avenue and Central Avenue will be finished this fall.

The company will upgrade aging water lines installed as far back as the 1910s on the following streets:

  • St. Davids Place from West Ave to the beach
  • Merion Place from West Ave to the beach
  • 48th Street from West Ave to the beach
  • Asbury Avenue from 47th Street to 48th Street
  • Central Avenue from 47th Street to 48th Street
  • Walnut Road Bay Avenue to Glenwood Drive
  • Glenwood Drive from Anchor Road to the end of the street
  • Ferndale Drive from Spruce Road to Anchor Road
  • Grenada Lane from Spruce Road to the end of the street
  • Mariana Lane from Spruce Road to the end of the street
  • Leyete Lane from Spruce Road to the end of the street

The contractor began work last week on St. Davids Place, Merion Place, 48th Street, Asbury Avenue and Central Avenue. Work hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. They will extend to 5:30 p.m. after daylight savings begins March 8.

Pioneer Pipe Contractors, Inc. will begin work on the remaining projects Wednesday. Work hours will be from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
