'A 2nd Mom To Many:' Help Lay A Former Ocean City Woman To Rest
She moved to Florida, and her family hopes to lay her to rest in Staten Island. But Mary Reynolds also raised a family in Ocean City.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — She moved to Florida, and her family hopes to lay her to rest in Staten Island. But Ocean City played in pivotal part in Mary Reynolds's life.
Reynolds, 56, died Tuesday after dealing with lung and heart failure. Her son, Mike, traveled to Florida to take care of her after she had several heart surgeries.
"She was the most selfless and caring person to loads of people in Ocean City," Mike told Patch.

Now Mary's family has focused on laying her to rest. They created a GoFundMe for assistance in fulfilling her wishes. Their grandmother paid for a plot of land in Staten Island, so Mary could get laid to rest next to her.
Mary raised several children in Ocean City. Mike recalls how he and his younger brother, Robert, played community baseball and football. And Mary never missed a beat.

"She was a second mother to so many folks on the island," Mike said.
Mary moved to Florida when housing prices increased. She did not have life insurance to take care of funeral expenses. But her family remains determined to fulfill her wishes.
"We understand that recent events have presented numerous personal challenges," John Reynolds wrote on the GoFundMe, "and please know that any and all consideration is greatly appreciated."
