3 Charged In Armed Bank Robbery In Cape May County

Three Cape May County residents have been charged in connection with an armed bank robbery earlier that took place earlier this year, - Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Lower Township Police Chief William Mastriana said Monday morning.

Joseph P. McCarraher Jr., of Villas, is charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, second-degree persons not to have weapons, third-degree terroristic threats and third-degree hindering apprehension in the Feb. 25 robbery at Crest Savings Bank in North Cape May.

McCarraher is currently being lodged at the South Woods State Prison in Bridgeton, where he was previously being detained on unrelated charges.

Trevor F. Seer, was arrested on Sept. 22 and charged with first-degree robbery and third-degree hindering apprehension.

Meghan L. Valeri, of North Cape May, was arrested on Sept. 21 and charged with third-degree hindering apprehension.

On Feb. 25, a masked man wearing a hooded sweatshirt robbed the Crest Savings Bank in North Cape May at gunpoint before running east into the wooded area across from the bank.

The Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and the Lower Township Police Department led the ensuing investigation that resulted in the charges announced on Monday. Wildwood Police and the FBI also aided in the investigation.
