3 Jump From Sinking Boat At Corson's Inlet: Officials

The three were rescued after they jumped into the water from their sinking boat, New Jersey State Police told Patch.

STRATHMERE, NJ — Three were rescued after their boat began sinking at Corson's Inlet State Park and they jumped into the water, officials said.

On Sunday morning, a vessel left the inlet, faced difficult sea conditions and took on water, NJSP Sgt. Alejandro Goez told Patch. There were three on board, according to Strathmere Fire Rescue.

"The vessel began to submerge and the occupants jumped into the water," Goez said.

Strathmere Fire Rescue confirmed that they and Ocean City Water Rescue were able to locate the three and take them back to land.

The rescue happened before state troopers arrived, Goez said.

No injuries were reported, he said. Officials are still investigating the incident

Corson's Inlet State Park is located just south of Ocean City and separates it from Strathmere.

"Good job all!" Strathmere fire officials said.
