Where To Get Free Donuts Friday In Ocean City

OCEAN CITY, NJ — There are plenty of places to celebrate National Donut Day on Friday in Ocean City. Here's where you can pick up a free donut in town.

• Fractured Prune will offer customers one free OC sand donut, no purchase necessary.
• Drip N Scoop will give donut lovers one free standard or specialty donut with every purchase.
• Dot's Pastry Shop will offer a free cake donut with any purchase.
• Dunkin' Donuts is giving away a free classic donut at every location with the purchase of any beverage.

But remember that the day is about more than free donuts. National Donut Day began in 1938, created by the Salvation Army to celebrate the women who served hot, fresh donuts to American soldiers in France during World War I. These women were called "Donut Lassies" and are credited with the increased popularity of donuts in the U.S. after the war ended.
