5 Things You Need to Know About OCHS Sports This Week

Miles Schoedler will be back on the national track scene, and rivals Ocean City and Mainland meet in several sports.

1. Miles Schoedler is heading to California this weekend to run the 3,200-meters in the Arcadia Invitational at Arcadia High School.

The event, dubbed the Home of National Records, begins today and ends on Saturday night.

Schoedler's event is scheduled for 9:02 p.m. Saturday in Pacific Standard Time (or 12:02 a.m Sunday EST).

While Schoedler is on the West Coast, his teammates will be running at the Moorestown Invitational.

The Red Raiders boys' track team, which has started the season at 3-0, will take on some of the top programs in South Jersey.

The girls' track team is in action at West Deptford.

 

2. The Ocean City High School baseball team's pitching depth will be tested this week.

The Red Raiders go on the road to play three games in three days against Hammonton (April 13), rival Mainland (April 14) and Egg Harbor Township (April 15).

The defending Group 3 South champs are off to a 2-0 start. 

 

3. The Ocean City High School tennis team hosts rival Mainland on April 12.

The match was originally scheduled for April 5, but inclement weather pushed it back a week. The Red Raiders are looking for their first win, losing a pair of 3-2 matches.

The Mustangs, who host Egg Harbor Township today, are 2-0.

 

4. The Ocean City golf team (2-2) is at Egg Harbor Township on April 12 before hosting rival Mainland on April 13 at Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point.

Steve Pashuck and Dom DiGiacomo have been on their games to start the season for Skip Angelo, who recently recorded his 200th win.

 

5. The Ocean City softball team has a tough week coming up.

The Red Raiders travel to Hamilton Township on April 11 to play Oakcrest, which is one of the top teams in the Cape-Atlantic League.

Ocean City hosts Hammonton, a perennial power, two days later. The Blue Devils are a young squad with three freshmen pitchers.

The week ends with the Red Raiders at rival Mainland on Thursday and hosting Egg Harbor Township on Friday.
