A Pageant with Plenty of Talent, Laughs and Testosterone: Mr. OCHS
Sixteen male students at Ocean City High School competed Thursday for the title of "Mr. OCHS."
Sixteen male students of Ocean City High School competed Thursday for the coveted crown of "Mr. OCHS" and for the laptop and two free prom tickets that come with it.
Organized by the Red Raider cheerleaders, the boys had to compete in fitness, talent and appearance.
The show started with the boys being escorted into the auditorium. Jake Krutsick was escorted by the Class of 2010 "has beens," while Mike Cocodrilli was escorted by his grandmother. After all the boys were on stage, they proceeded to dance to a mix of songs before being individually introduced.

The next competition was fitness. The boys went all out in Spandex and exercise equipment, including that "as seen on TV" Shakeweight.
They moved on to individual acts, which were usually done in groups of two with backup. Two acts that got the most laughs were both based on Saturday Night Live skits.

Marc Implazio and Ty Jackson performed the "Spartan Chess Tournament," which originally aired on TV in 1996. C.J. Shultheist and Jake Rando performed the also ever-so-famous "Chippendale's Dancers," which originally included Patrick Swayze and Chris Farley.
Other acts included Luke Hogan and Ryan Heckler performing "I Got You Babe," which lead to them ripping off outfits and breaking out in dance.
Jake McCallum performed "The Time of My Life," in which he dressed as Jennifer Gray from Dirty Dancing while friend Dylan Canova was Patrick Swayze.
Of all the acts, the most spectacular was Jayson Chu, who ended up winning the title. Mocking Raider Nation, Chu came out with Asian students holding a sign reading Asian Nation. He then proceeded to dance with excellent dancers who wore all white, then turned on black-lights to make his act even more spectacular.
The cheerleaders organized the successful event with the help from Kathryn Sykes and Brenda Colon-Smith, who are advisers for the Red Raider cheerleaders. Caitlin Weisner, Nikki Boylan and Sami Rumer hosted the event with Mr. John Bruno speaking at times. Bruno also asked the students questions during the personal interview section, while Tori Langsdorf assisted.
Prizes included two 76ers tickets for first runner up, a laptop and prom tickets for the winner, among other substantial prizes. Each of the students said they wished they could compete again, but it is only a senior competition.
The winners included:
Mr. Congeniality: Luke Hogan
Third Runner Up: Nick Briggs
Second Runner Up: Marc Implazio
First Runner Up: Jimmy O'Connor
WINNER: Jayson Chu
