OCEAN CITY, NJ — Avalon Flooring has completed a full renovation of its Ocean City showroom at 1158 Asbury Avenue, updating the space it has operated since 1993 while keeping the same local team in place.
The company said the redesign is meant to modernize the store and make the design process easier for homeowners, families, vacationers and local professionals.
According to the company, the renovated showroom includes a reconfigured layout, new lighting and flooring, brighter displays and an expanded selection of samples. New lifestyle vignettes highlight home products including flooring, bathroom vanities, mirrors, wall tile and glass shower doors. The showroom also includes updated window treatment displays with more styles and automation options, according to the company.
The renovation also adds dedicated areas for homeowners, designers and builders to work together in the store. Customers can meet with Avalon design consultants in person and use complimentary design services, whether they are planning a full renovation or updating one room, according to the company.
“For me, this is more than a showroom update. It’s an investment in a community that means so much to our company and to me personally,” said Maryanne Adams, president and CEO of Avalon Flooring. “We’ve been part of Ocean City for decades, and this renovation allows us to continue that legacy while giving our customers a space that feels current, welcoming, and inspiring.”
Adams has been with the company for 38 years and is a full-time Ocean City resident, according to the company. Avalon Flooring said it has been part of the Ocean City community for more than 30 years and has supported events including the Ocean City Block Party and other neighborhood activities during the year. The company also said the Ocean City team has a combined 158 years of tenure across eight employees.
Avalon Flooring was founded by John Millar in 1958 in Avalon, New Jersey, according to the company. It has since grown to 16 locations across New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. The company said Millar later transitioned Avalon Flooring to an ESOP employee-owned operation, and the retailer now ranks among the top 10 specialty flooring retailers in the country.
The Ocean City showroom remains one of the company’s 16 locations and now has a redesigned space centered on flooring, bath, tile and window treatment projects. The company framed the renovation as its next chapter in Ocean City after decades on Asbury Avenue.
