OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City drivers may see brief traffic stops before dawn Wednesday as work continues on the elevation and resurfacing project on Roosevelt Boulevard and 34th Street.
A subcontractor is scheduled to work on the 34th Street corridor on Wednesday, May 20, completing a road survey with laser-equipped vehicles between 12 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. The testing area will run from the base of the 34th Street Bridge to Central Avenue, according to the project notice.
The overnight survey is part of the broader elevation and resurfacing project on Roosevelt Boulevard and 34th Street. During the testing period, officers will be present to stop traffic while the surveying vehicles are in motion. The notice says vehicles will be allowed to travel through the area in between tests.
That means traffic is not expected to be shut down for the full overnight work window, but drivers should still expect short delays at points along the corridor. The survey will take place during hours when traffic is typically lighter, though anyone heading through the area overnight may want to build in extra travel time.
The work zone covers a key stretch of 34th Street, from the bridge approach to Central Avenue. For motorists using that corridor, the main impact will be intermittent stoppages tied to the movement of the survey vehicles and the testing process.
