JERSEY SHORE — Wildwood is the best beach in New Jersey, according to the results of USA TODAY's 10BEST reader's choice contest.
Earlier this year, USA TODAY's expert panel selected 20 New Jersey beaches in the running for Best Beach in New Jersey. Readers narrowed that down to the top 10, and The Wildwoods fell in first place.
"On the beach, guests can play volleyball, surf, boogie board, or just play in the waves," USA TODAY wrote of The Wildwoods.
Also noted was the beach taxi service "that brings visitors from the boardwalk to a spot closer to the ocean to set up their chairs and umbrellas."
Not only do The Wildwoods feature "the largest stretches of sand on the Jersey Shore (500 yards wide at points)" as USA TODAY wrote, the beaches are also free.
"Surrounded by iconic retro architecture, the legendary Wildwood Boardwalk is a big entertainment hub, offering an electric vibe day and night," USA TODAY wrote.
