OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City Theatre Company will present "Fame The Musical" on July 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. at the Ocean City Music Pier. The production will feature students in OCTC’s High School Junior Company, a program designed to give aspiring performers a professional-level theatrical experience.
Based on the film and television series, the musical follows students at New York City’s High School for the Performing Arts as they work toward careers in music, dance, drama and the arts. According to the theater company, the story centers on ambition, creativity and the pursuit of dreams as the characters navigate adolescence. The show includes the Academy Award-winning title song and a score that continues to draw audiences.
OCTC said its High School Junior Company gives students rigorous training and performance opportunities in a supportive environment. Through the program, students work with directors, choreographers, music directors and production staff while building artistic and life skills, according to the company.
“'Fame' is a story about passion, perseverance, and finding your voice,” said Michael Hartman, Artistic Director of Ocean City Theatre Company. “Our High School Junior Company students have dedicated countless hours to bringing this powerful production to life, and audiences will be amazed by their talent, energy, and commitment. We are also excited to announce that this production will feature a live band!”
Tickets are $15 and are available at oceancitytheatrecompany.com. The company encouraged audience members to buy tickets early and support the student performers featured in the production.
