WILDWOOD, NJ — Nine people were saved in two back-to-back water rescues in Wildwood, officials said.
The rescues occurred Sunday evening at about 7:47 p.m., after lifeguards had gone off-duty for the night.
"These people came out of nowhere. I'm talking about like 'Baywatch,'" one witness said in a video shared by the Wildwood Beach Patrol. "It was so beautiful."
The witness said she had seen people in the water unable to return to the shore.
A total of nine people were safely brough back to the beach, according to the video's voiceover.
The video also includes a reminder to always swim in front of lifeguard stands and to not enter the water when lifeguards are not on duty.
"No lifeguard, no swim," the voiceover said.
