Ocean City Welcomes Phillie Phanatic For 34th Street Summer Finale

The mascot will headline Wednesday's final 34th Street Sandcastle Park summer event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City will close out its new 34th Street Sandcastle Park Summer Entertainment Series on Wednesday, Aug. 26, with a visit from the Phillie Phanatic.

The season finale is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Sandcastle Park on the 3400 block between West Avenue and Asbury Avenue.

The city said families are invited to wear Phillies gear for "Phillies Week" at the park. In addition to the mascot appearance, the event will include a DJ, face-painting, a balloon artist and more. According to the announcement, Wednesday's "Phillies Week" will be the final event of the summer series.

The series was introduced this summer to bring weekly entertainment to the 34th Street gateway, according to the announcement. The city described it as a popular addition to Ocean City's calendar of special events. The same notice said Ocean City has a full schedule of other events lined up for the week, with many of its weekly summer programs nearing their seasonal end.

On Tuesday, Aug. 25, Funtastic Tuesday will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Ocean City's downtown shopping district along Asbury Avenue, with entertainment, face-painters, balloon-sculptors and more. The city said it will be the final Funtastic Tuesday of the season. Mummers Night is also scheduled Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the Boardwalk between Sixth Street and 14th Street.

Wednesday's lineup also includes Beach Exercise — Pilates at 8 a.m. on the beach at Sixth Street, with no registration needed. The weekly Farmers Market will run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the grounds of the Ocean City Tabernacle at Sixth Street and Asbury Avenue, where local farmers sell produce, baked goods and specialty foods, and crafters set up in the adjacent street. The Farmers Market will run through Sept. 9, according to the announcement.

Also on Wednesday, a free guided Beach Walk will meet at 6:30 p.m. near the beach at 59th Street and Central Avenue, and the city said it will be the final beach walk of the season. Family Night on the Boardwalk will feature entertainers between Sixth Street and 14th Street and will also be the last one of the season.

Later in the week, Market Days on Thursday and Mummers Night on Thursday will each hold their final events of the season. Beach Exercise classes continue Friday and Monday at 8 a.m. on the beach at Sixth Street and run through Sept. 4, according to the announcement. A concert, "Four Magnificent Male Icons," is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, at the Music Pier.
