Ocean City Sets Labor Day Race, Music Pier Shows, September Events

A Labor Day beach race, concerts and seasonal events are scheduled across Ocean City this month.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City will mark Labor Day with its 35th annual Labor Day Race on the beach at 23rd Street on Monday, Sept. 7.

The event will feature a 5-mile race on the beach from 23rd Street to 46th Street and back, along with a 1-mile health walk/run from 23rd Street to 18th Street and back. The races start at 9 a.m., and race-day registration opens at 7:30 a.m., according to the event information. More information is available at www.ocnj.us/OCNJ-LABOR-DAY-RACE.

The Music Pier schedule continues on Sunday, Sept. 6, when the Ocean City Pops will perform "Dinosaurs, Aliens, & Adventure: The Movie Music of John Williams" at 7:30 p.m. The event listing says the concert will include music from "Star Wars," "Jaws," "War Horse" and "Far & Away," along with music associated with the Olympic Games. Tickets are available through the same box office options.

The final Farmers Market of the season will be Wednesday, Sept. 16. The market features fresh produce from local farms in the region and craft vendors.

The city also released a broader list of September events. Upcoming dates include Maestro Lee at the Keys – Dueling Pianos on Sept. 9 at the Music Pier and a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at 6 p.m. Sept. 11 outside Ocean City Fire Department headquarters at 550 Asbury Ave.

Other September events include Fall Cruisin' the Boards Car Show on Sept. 12, the Corvette Show on Sept. 13, the Ocean City Airport Festival on Sept. 19 and the Parachute Pyrotechnic Show at 8 p.m. Sept. 19. The Boardwalk Aerobatic Airshow is set for 1 p.m. Sept. 20, best viewed from the beach and boardwalk from Fifth Street to 14th Street. Later in the month, the MS City to Shore Ride is scheduled for Sept. 26 and 27.
