Found Human Remains ID'd As Missing South Jersey Man: Prosecutor

The human skull was discovered this past March in a wooded area of the Whitesboro section of Middle Township, authorities said.

MIDDLE TWP., NJ — Human remains discovered this past March in the Whitesboro section of Middle Township have been positively identified as a Lower Township man who has been missing for more than two years, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office said.

The remains have been identified as Benjamin J. Beason, 42, authorities said.

Beason was previously reported missing to the Lower Township Police Department on May 22, 2024.

The remains were initially discovered on March 3, 2026, when a Cape May County resident walking in a wooded area of Whitesboro discovered what appeared to be a human skull, officials said.

The discovery was immediately reported to the Middle Township Police Department. A subsequent coordinated search by law enforcement and search and rescue personnel resulted in the recovery of additional skeletal remains.

The remains were examined and determined to belong to Beason, authorities said. The cause and manner of death remain under investigation.

Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland said that the investigation remains ongoing, and that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
