Wildwoods Air Show Set This Weekend Along Beaches, Boardwalk

The free two-day show will feature the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo Team and a Coast Guard rescue demonstration.

WILDWOOD, NJ — The Wildwoods will host the return of the Wildwoods Air Show on Saturday, Sept. 12, and Sunday, Sept. 13, with performances visible from beaches and the boardwalk across the five-mile island.

The Greater Wildwoods Tourism Improvement and Development Authority announced the free event will have show center on the Spicer Avenue beach between Morey's Mariner's Landing Pier and Adventure Pier.

This year's show includes the U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor Demo Team and the United States Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City SAR, or Search & Rescue, Demonstration. The lineup also includes an F-16 flyby by the 177th Fighter Wing, New Jersey Air National Guard, along with a MiG-17, the Jersey Jerks, Patrick McAlee, RJ Gritter, the RE/MAX Skydiving Team and a P-51 Mustang.

The tourism authority reported the event is free to attend and will be visible from the Wildwoods' beaches and boardwalk. General admission and premium seating options are available, with limited VIP viewing areas still for sale at WildwoodsAirshow.com/tickets.

According to the announcement, the Shore Club tier includes catered lunch, VIP parking, a tented seating area and other amenities, while the Beach Box tier includes chairs, umbrellas and dedicated concessions.

The air show will also be streamed live on the 98.7 The Coast, or WCZT, app, which the announcement said is available for free on the App Store and Google Play. The release said listeners can hear the live broadcast from anywhere on the five-mile island.

The weekend will also include several events around the island. The announcement lists 9/11 remembrance ceremonies for Friday, Sept. 11, including a 10 a.m. ceremony at Byrne Plaza in Wildwood, an 8:40 a.m. commemoration at the 15th Street Fire Station in North Wildwood, and a 5:30 p.m. memorial service at Alameno Park in Wildwood Crest.

Other events scheduled that weekend include the North Wildwood Recreation Surf Fishing Competition from Sept. 11 to 13, New Year's in North Wildwood on Sept. 11 and 12, the Wildwoods Food and Music Festival on Sept. 12, PigDog Puppa Palooza on Sept. 13, and the Greg DiAntonio Memorial Reggae Fest on Sept. 13.

The announcement said more than 130,000 people attended last year's air show. For additional information about the air show, the tourism authority directs visitors to WildwoodsAirshow.com.
