WOODBINE, NJ — An Atlantic County man who worked as a preschool teacher's aide in Cape May County is accused of sexually assaulting students and using them to create child sexual abuse material, the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office said.
Shaun M. Stebbins, 44, was initially charged by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office this past April after an investigation found that the Somers Point man had sexually abused children over 11 years, Patch previously reported. At the time, those children were reported to be unrelated to his job at Woodbine Elementary School, where he worked from February of 2022 through March 29, 2026, when he was arrested. Atlantic County Prosecutor William Reynolds said at the time he was concerned there were more victims, considering Stebbins' job at an elementary school.
A search of Stebbins' devices found numerous photos and videos of Woodbine students, Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland said.
On Friday, Stebbins was charged with 29 counts of manufacturing child pornography, five counts of aggravated sexual assault, 13 counts of sexual assault by sexual contact and 14 counts of endangering the welfare of a child.
He remains in the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending court proceedings.
"Children are among our most vulnerable population and we have a responsibility to protect their safety and well-being. Anyone who harms a child will be held accountable through our justice system," Sutherland said.
