Annual 9/11 Ceremony Held In Ocean City This Sunday

Join Sunday evening as FBI Special Agent Dan Garrabrant will speak in honor of those who died 21 years ago.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City will hold their annual 9/11 memorial ceremony this Sunday evening.

On the 21st anniversary of the terrorist attacks, head to the Ocean City Fire Department headquarters (550 Asbury Ave.) at 6 p.m.

"The ceremony includes music, prayer and reflections on the memory of lives lost and on the community spirit that was renewed in the wake of the tragedy," according to the Ocean City website. "The event includes the Striking of the Four Fives, a fire service tradition noting the death of a firefighter in the line of duty."

FBI Special Agent Dan Garrabrant, a supervisor with the evidence response team at the World Trade Center site in the aftermath of the attacks, will be the keynote speaker.

Ocean City Fire Chief Jim Smith will also speak at the ceremony.

"Ocean City has held this ceremony every year since the evening of the attacks in 2001, and I want to encourage everybody to attend," Mayor Jay A. Gillian said.
