Annual Bike Auction Returns To Ocean City

Set for July 13, this annual event by the police department offers the opportunity to purchase bikes at a low cost.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City's Annual Bike Auction is set to return on July 13.

During this event, the Ocean City Police Department allows anybody interested to bid on used bicycles. These bikes are deemed by police to be abandoned or unclaimed. This year, about 115 bikes and other surplus items will be up for auction.

Successful bids in a typical auction range from $1 to $350, officials said, making the event a great opportunity to get bikes at a low cost.

The auction will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on July 13 at the Shelter Road Recycling Center located at 1 Shelter Road, off of Tennessee Avenue, which intersects Bay Avenue near 23rd Street. The rain date will be July 14.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. and a driver's license, passport or valid ID is needed.

All items are sold "as is." Payments can be made with bank checks with ID, local checks and cash; no credit cards will be accepted.
