Appeal Delays Road And Drainage Project In Ocean City: Mayor

Mayor Jay Gillian announced the delay on Friday.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The start of work on the drainage project between 26th and 34th streets in Ocean City has been delayed again.

Last week, it was reported that work would begin immediately after Superior Court Judge Christopher Gibson ruled in the city’s favor in awarding the contract to A.E. Stone for the project.

However, on Friday, Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian announced that there is an appeal in the case, and that work has been delayed again.

“I assure you all that the city will take every possible action to resolve this matter as quickly as possible,” Gillian said.

Pillari Bros. Construction Company out of Monmouth County was the low bidder, but was disqualified because it failed to list its subcontractors in the paperwork, according to the Ocean City Gazette. A.E. Stone was awarded the contract on Feb. 8.
