Man Who Allegedly Killed 2-Year-Old Boy Captured in Atlantic City

Jagger Thomas Jost allegedly killed the boy last year, a week before marrying the 2-year-old's mother.

An Atlantic City man has been charged in the murder of a 2-year-old boy, New Jersey State Police said on Thursday.

Jagger Thomas Jost, 21, was arrested in Atlantic City on Monday by State Police detectives and members of the U.S. Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Detectives learned that he was staying at 923 Route 30 in Atlantic City, where he was arrested without incident.

He was transported to the Atlantic City Police Department for processing before being lodged at the Atlantic County Jail as a fugitive from justice on a no-bail warrant. He awaits extradition to North Carolina.

He is accused of killing Vernon Gaylord Sylver Jr. in Greensboro, N.C., last year, a week before he married the boy’s mother, philly.com reports. Syler Jr. was his fiancee’s son from a prior relationship.

He is charged with first-degree murder and felony child abuse, according to nj.com.
