Avalon To Host Cape May County Senior Jamboree For Older Americans Month

Cape May County residents 60 and older can reserve a spot for the Kentucky Derby-themed event by May 6.

AVALON, NJ — Cape May County seniors are invited to Avalon next month for the county's annual Senior Jamboree, part of the celebration of Older Americans Month.

The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Avalon Community Center at 30th Street and the Boardwalk in Avalon.

The event is being hosted by the Cape May County Division of Aging & Disability Services. This year's theme is "The Kentucky Derby," according to the event announcement. Cape May County residents age 60 and older may attend with a reservation.

The county said the Senior Jamboree will include music, dancing and lunch. Students from Wildwood Catholic High School will assist staff with serving lunch. The announcement also states that the students are known to join seniors on the dance floor.

Attendees are encouraged to dress for the theme in wide-brimmed hats, seersucker suits and comfortable dancing shoes, according to the county. Fare-free transportation also is available for seniors who need a ride to the event.

Reservations for transportation must be made by Wednesday, May 6, 2026. To book transportation, residents can call 609-889-3700. The deadline to RSVP for the event is also May 6, 2026.

To reserve a place at the Senior Jamboree, residents may contact the Division of Aging & Disability Services at 609-886-2784. The Senior Jamboree is sponsored by the Cape May County Board of Commissioners.
