Baker Engineers, City Provide Update on Ocean City Flooding During Town Hall
The town hall meeting was Tuesday night at the Howard S. Stainton Senior Center.

In March, City Council approved a $44,720 contract for Michael Baker International to conduct a study of street flooding between 26th and 34th streets.
However, Project Manager Craig Wenger told about 75 homeowners who turned out for Tuesday night’s town hall meeting at the Howard S. Stainton Senior Center that the study had to incorporate the entire drainage system, the Ocean City Gazette reports.
He said the drainage pipes extend to the bay and, in some instances, beyond. Many are at least partially under water at all times, and those with check valves were noted, according to the report.

Ocean City has directed the firm to come up with all possible solutions for flooding, which residents have complained about during rain events and high tides, regardless of price, according to the report.
Wenger said low spots, which were identified as Haven, Simpson and West avenues, and areas where the water is coming from need to be dealt with, according to the report.
The firm will next develop a more detailed survey before moving forward with any corrective plans, according to the report.
