Beloved Ocean City Bakery Won't Open This Summer

"We're not saying this is permanent," the bakery said in announcing the news.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — An iconic and popular Ocean City bakery is taking its own vacation and won't be opening this summer.

Dot's Pastry Shop, an island staple for decades, is taking a break for summer 2026.

"We’ve been honored being part of so many of your treasured memories on this beautiful island," the bakery said in announcing its closure.

"We’re not saying this is permanent," store owners continued. "This year, our family is taking quality time to be together over the summer."

The bakery is best known for its cream donuts. But it also serves other delicious pastries and baked goods.

Hundreds of commenters shared their well-wishes, while adding that they would miss their pastries.

"Dot’s cream donuts are synonymous with OC summers for us," one commenter wrote.

"I hope you enjoy your family time and come back to help us make more delicious memories next year! Ocean City needs you!" wrote another.

The news came just days after another Ocean City bakery, Lisa's Sweet Treats, announced its retirement.

"I am deeply grateful for the support you've shown me from loyal customers who became friends, to the dedicated workers who helped bring our bakery to life each day, and to the local community whose encouragement made every challenge worthwhile," the owner wrote.
