Bike Auction In Ocean City Set For July 16

About 115 bikes deemed abandoned or unclaimed by the Ocean City Police Department will be up for bid.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City will hold its annual Bicycle Auction on Monday, July 16, 10 a.m. to noon at the Shelter Road Recycling Center at 1 Shelter Road, off Tennessee Avenue, which intersects Bay Avenue near 23rd Street.

Bicycles in the auction have been deemed abandoned or unclaimed by the Ocean City Police Department. About 115 bicycles, and other items (including unclaimed kayaks and surfboards) will be for sale. Anyone can bid on these items at a low cost, as items at successful auctions typically go for anywhere from $1 to $350.

Registration for the event begins at 9 a.m., and a driver’s license, passport or valid ID is required to register. All items are sold “as is/where is” with no warranties implied or offered. Bidders can use bank checks with ID, traveler’s checks and cash. No credit cards will be accepted. Rain date is Tuesday, July 17.
