"Blood Brothers" Cast and Crew Makes the Musical a Big Hit

Months of hard work and juggling schedules pays off: Dramatic musical is a huge success.

Patch Whiz Kids of the Week: The cast and crew of Blood Brothers

  • Ages: 14 to 18
  • School: Ocean City High School
  • Accomplishment: Great show

Director Terri Brennan suspected she had the depths of talent to pull off such a challenging dramatic musical as Blood Brothers. And, boy, was she right.

The nearly three-hour show had it all: hauntingly beautiful music; humor and light-heartedness; suspense and creepiness; secrets and betrayal; a love triangle and a tragically intense climax.

Under the guidance of Brennan and other dedicated staff members, these students brought to life a performance of jaw-dropping caliber.

"The commitment is huge," Brennan said. "It takes such a large amount of time to get a show where it is audience-ready."

Luckily, Brennan said, the people of Ocean City have a great deal of "cultural commitment," particularly for a relatively small town.

"We are a little niche of artistic wonder," the director said.

So this week you're all Patch Whiz Kids: from the onstage cast of some 65 students—who put in countless hours learning their lines and parts since auditions and rehearsals started after winter break—to 10 stage and technical crew members, 10 pit band musicians and others who committed to making the show just that close to perfect.

Bravo! It's going to be tough to top that show, but we'll be glad to see you try with the next production!
